This weekend I celebrated turning the big 40! I am now officially in my forties. It still doesn't feel real to be honest. I do feel extremely grateful for my amazing sister and my friends for arranging such a fabulous surprise weekend away for me. I am so glad I saw into my forties with a lot of my closest friends and family.

The weekend wasn't what had originally been planned due to Covid but thankfully the girls pulled an amazing weekend out of the bag! I knew it was a staycation in the UK as what had been originally booked/arranged wasn't happening anymore. I didn't know what to pack or anything. I had been given some details but I did feel really anxious in the lead up to it.

Then on the day we left, I typically was rushing around as woke up late and left a lot of it to the last minute. I packed far too much stuff. My sister picked me up and we drove to our destination although I had no idea where we were going. I had a feeling my friends were going to be there but they were pretending they weren't and I wasn't going to see them. I wasn't sure what to think.

The traffic on the way was a nightmare. Eventually, we arrived at our destination. We walked into a room and my friends shouted surprise! Well they shouted surprise to my sister as I was behind her! So I realised they were there. One friend was there who I wasn't expecting so that was a nice surprise!

We had some dinner and a few drinks and I opened some presents. The next day a couple of us went for a run together. It was good. Then we went for a wander around the grounds and looked for the spa. We stopped off for some lunch in the bar at the golf club near where we were staying. Then we came back and I was told to get ready.

As I was getting ready for the evening, I caught a glimpse of another friend who had arrived but I pretended I hadn't seen her. It was actually two more of my friends. It was a lovely surprise. We had a few drinks and played some games. We then had some dinner and played more games. The evening and weekend and everything started to feel a bit overwhelming I think plus alcohol isn't good for me if I drink too much but I had a good time.

The next day we had a spa day and it was my birthday so I opened all of my presents. So we chilled by the spa and I had a massage. It was lovely. Then we headed back and we went out for dinner which was amazing.

I had a lovely weekend and I feel very grateful and loved by my friends. I am very lucky to have such amazing people in my life.
